Yeah, but when you aren’t prepared for it, especially in a heat/clothing/road preparation capacity, it’s not good. Then there’s driving.
Let me break it down for you. You have three main groups that drivers fall into in winter weather:
1) The Panickers. These people shouldn’t be behind the wheel of a car because they’re too freaked out to rationally handle driving in snow/ice. They end up going super-crazy slow and pissing everyone off because they act like they’ve never driven their whole life.
2) The iceholes The group is peopled by jerks who think having a big truck or a 4WD vehicle makes them invincible and then they cause probably 90% of the weather-related accidents. They’re either passing you illegally as you try to keep your car on the road, or ignoring closes road signs. They may have lived in a place where snow was more prominent and therefore think they know everything about driving in winter weather, but they forget that it’s been years since they actually did any.
3) The Rest of Us This group is the people who may have occasionally driven in snow before, or may not. Either way, this group is cautious, but not hyper cautious. We keep an eye on the other cars, and know to turn into a slide, but we don’t drive crazy fast or endanger other people.
The percentage of these drivers is about 60/25/15 respectively. Unfortunately, this ratio makes driving not only unbearably annoying, but highly dangerous, on TOP of weather conditions.
So before you dismiss the effect of weather on a region, think about the actual ramifications they may be facing.
This doesn’t even get into things like ice on power lines/trees.
